I hear long reports about peace process/resolution in the Lebanon Crisis. Can you ever have peace when you deal with fanatics??

Key word. "fanatics". You won't find much clear thinking in a fanatical mind. There is plenty of clear thinking going on around the world but it is being drowned out by fanatical minorities, even in the US.

Even more, how can you have peace when you have fanatics on one side and corrupt politicians on the other. One side believes in holy war and the other has friends who make a fortune on every bomb that drops.

Then, just to make it worse, have biased news media that inflames everyone who is neither a fanatic nor a politician to the point where they too are irrational. Throw in a dose of ignorance all the way around, and a dash of arrogant religious belief (not quite fanaticism), egos ranting and babies crying.

Clear thinking is a casualty of all this, isn't it? Clear thinking has to begin with curiosity, with asking a question that really seeks to understand rather than to prove you're right. Clear thinking would definitely be a good idea right now. Clear thinking isn't what someone else ought to do. It's the responsibility of each of us to do for ourselves - and for humanity.

There is a LOT OF PENT UP FRUSTRATION in the Middle East which dates back centuries. In the First Crusade, the Crusaders were still upset at the Jews for killing Christ so they killed completely different Jews. And, they were upset at the Muslims as well and killed them. So, the Muslims became upset with the Christians and killed them. Why three religions that have far more in common than in opposition keep fighting with each other is beyond me. Why not just argue about it instead?

I think you CAN have MOSTLY peace even with fanatics in the world. People can just sit around and ARGUE about their differences. Will we ever have COMPLETE peace on Earth? I really doubt it. Somebody will always be robbing a bank, and somebody will always be strapping a bomb to themselves and blowing somebody else up for whatever reason. But, we can certainly attain a lot more peace than we have been getting.

Clear thinking may not be dead, but many in the Middle East are, and every death makes peace that much harder to process.

They need some sort of Martin Luther King Jr. over there.

It's difficult to deal with people who don't want to be dealt with.

There's no clear agenda that we can see, and that's certainly in the way of making some effort at ending this mess. Lebanon and Israel are going to have to work this out, I'm afraid.

Just listen to "All Along The Watchtower"-= Hendrix's version (twas written by Bob Dylan) to become an ostrich as I choose to be. WW3 is beginning... I refuse to think clear, it's clear my kids have no future.

70% of breastfeeding women in America have traces of jet fuel in their breastmilk as a result of all the air pollution. I'd say that clear thinking is pretty much gone.

The answer is no. Peace loving people should move to Greenland.

Clear thinking is not dead. But thinking about the "bigger picture" sure seems out of style.

Diplomacy is dead and that is what we need more of in this world. Without empathy and understanding of another culture there can be no progress.
