In a word: EGO
In a big word: Egocentric
Egocentric defined by Webster:
1 : concerned with the individual rather than society
2 : taking the ego as the starting point in philosophy
3 a : limited in outlook or concern to one's own activities or needs
Why? Because their views about themselves are very limited such that they don't identify their faults, nor the desire to search. Usually a little maturity (life experience) corrects this.

I don't believe that anyone truly perceives themselves as being "perfect" I do think that they would like others to perceive them as "perfect" but in all of our minds we have doubt of every action, though and doing we make. We all strive for perfection but can
never achieve it because we are human and made imperfect. Those who think otherwise are delusional.

everyone has a different level of self satisfaction..and it would be the same with achievement. if you aim really high, it is always going to be a challenge be it good or bad. if you just go for whats in front of you, well its easy to get that "perfect" thing
at the end of the day we are our only judge so more power to those that have reached there perfect "stage"
good question =)

I dont know of anybody who thinks their perfect. But I can see the point you are trying to make. I know what my faults are , some I try to improve on and others I just dont care , I am happy just like it is. I think is funny that gays cant / wont accept the fact that their lifestyle is not normal and they cant admit it. They are always trying to defend it as right.I dont care what they do , their not going to change.

Perfect? As compared to what?
Perfection in this world is a goal that is seldom achieved and if achieved seldom lasts.

People generally have no wish to be wrong. Lacking perfection is admitting to occasionally being wrong.

because they're delusional
it's actually being extremely self-conscious, they say they're perfect, and they try to do and say everything in what they consider a "perfect" manner so that someone else will tell them they are perfect too.
