A university's website mentioned fall semester,winter semester and fall term and winter term at the same time.(You have to pay more for semester than term...)

Semesters divide the school year into 2, whereas terms divide it into 3. In America, a term is usually referred to as a trimester, but the word term is coined predominantly in the UK.

Chances are in this case, the semester is probably a longer class. I hope this helps!

I'm not sure about Taranto's maths - quarters that are divided into 3???

Anyway, it sounds like your university is a little confused with its divisions - probably best to check with them to find out what the specific dates are.

I would have said that semester and term are synonomous. But the website seems to suggest differently, I'd phone or email the university and ask them what the difference is.

If the school has semesters, it has two terms per year. But some schools are on a quarter system -- and have three terms per year.
