*I am a pittsburgh pirates fan and i know that they are not the best team. I think that it is extreamly unfair for a team like the yankees for example to have so much more money than the pirates. Yeah the yankees are going to have a much better baseball team because they have the money to buy the players.. does anyone agree with me that this is unfair or can anyone explain this to me? thanks*

Honestly, I think that's what makes this game so much better than other sports. I love it when teams like the Twins go and show up teams like the Yankees, 'cause it proves that money can buy a great team, but teamwork and compassion is what wins games.

It's unfair, yes, but it's still not a big deal. A couple of years ago, the Marlins won the Series with a tiny payroll, as far as baseball teams go. Besides, the Yankees having such a big payroll gives everyone a reason to hate them.

If the Pirate owners wanted to win, they'd spend more money. As noted above, the Yankees have lost money the last few years trying to build a winner.

If every team had an owner that wanted to win as much as Steinbrenner, baseball would be a far better sport.

First, I want to say that it's pretty cool that you were able to stick with your teams through these past few years. Second, no, it isn't fair. But if baseball tried to impose a sallary cap there would be a strike similar to the one hockey experienced a year ago. Besides, sometimes teams with less money do extremely well, and that's what you have to wait for when you are a fan of a team with a low budget. Because every few years, a poor team will begin to streak and will sometimes go all the way.

Yep. You're right. It's unfair but so is life. As long as the rules stay the way they are, the Yankees will continue beating up on the Pirates and Royals of the world, and I'll love every minute of it.

GO YANKS!!!

but then the yankees and the Mets have to pay a luxury tax after, and the Pirates get some of that money.
It isnt totally fair, but then again, some places like Florida do not show up to the games to support their team, why should teams that have good fans to pay to show up bbe punoished.

maybe if your owners cared enough to pay for a good team, you wouldn't complain. I do agree that the yankees system for getting players would kill them if there was a salary cap or if all teams had that much money.

Although I don't like parity as it exists in the NFL, NBA, and NHL I do feel that there needs to be spending limits. At least it will keep original teams in their cities.

Don't worry, Steinbrenner is losing money.

Yes, it is completely fair. FEDEX spends more than DHL, and they are more successful.
