First of all, anyone who takes stock in a news paper( the new york times among others) that prints libel and treasonous material really needs to broaden their sources and give fair and balanced treatment to the subject they are reading about.
Second of all, history has shown that aboriginism, as I will call it here, never stands up to the current culture which has by its superiority or by divine providence (aka God) displaced other, less developed, less stable cultures.
Currently, I believe the influx of illegal immigrants is due to the irresponsibility or powermongering of our national and state leaders. We have had this coming because of the lack of responsibility on the part of all the voting citizens of our country. By not going to the polls to cast our vote and by not contacting our representatives We The People have brought this curse on ourselves.
Illegal immigrants are here illegally and should make recompense if they want to make things right with this country and with God.
America is not about a free ride, its about a dream our founding fathers had of life, liberty and the persuit of happiness and this to be accomplished in a lawful and orderly way, which is not the way illegal immigrants have done it.
Now to answer the question: I am glad some politicians are getting a backbone and standing up to this problem and doing something about it. It is not a matter of convenience it is a matter of national survival and if something isn't done about it I can see our who system rotting or just failing.

I'm not surprised, since it's not the first time it's happened. The Irish, the Italians, the Poles, the Jews, etc. have gone through similar things when they first immigrated to the US.
The problem about illegal immigration is the numbers, and the feeling of insecurity that knowing that the border is so vulnerable brings to the US in a post 9/11 world. There's also the racial prejudices, but that's only part of it.

My OPINION of the backlash against ILLEGAL immigrants in California is that it has been a long time coming, too long. The state of California and the rest of the U.S. have been footing the bill for these criminals for far too long. If they don't like their home country, then change it!

I think there is one key word in this question.... ILLEGAL. It doesn't matter if you are in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, or thousands of miles from any international border, one key thing remains the same, it is illegal.

The United States of America is a great and wonderful place to live. By no means it is perfect, nor does it hold the solution to the problems and woes of the world, however, it is a wonderful place. In this country we have freedoms that others can only dream of. We can all have a voice in our government, and we have a justice system that helps keep the peace and minimze crime.

It is very easy to see the lure of coming to the United States. It is a land of plenty, a land of dreams fulfilled, a place where faith and hope can truly come to fruition. However, all of those things that make this country so great are based on some very important things. Of these, one of the most important, and a key to everything else we hold so dear, is full compliance with those laws put in place for the governing of this society.

Laws must be put in place because human nature tends to drive many people towards selfish behaviors. Laws help set the boundaries of what we can and cannot do, and help detour many good people from doing bad things.

At the same time, the laws are useless if they are not upheld by the justice system and the necessary punishments given to those who break the laws. Because we know a thief will go to jail, many people do not steal. Because we know we will get a ticket if we are caught speeding, many people choose not to speed. If the laws were not enforced and upheld, however, there would be no reason to obey of follow them. This type of disobedience can lead to civil unrest, death, destruction and an eventual overthrow of a government.

Immigration is the root and foundation of the United States of America. Were it not for immigration, a majority of us would not be here, the country would be undeveloped, and the world as a whole would be a different place. Almost all of us have an ancestor who immigrated from a different country at one point or another.

All nations desire some amount of control over who is coming and going from their country. A majority of developed and developing nations have laws regarding who can and who cannot enter their country to visit, study, work, or live. There are certain procedures which must be followed, and those procedures then allow that nation to have a closer control on who resides within their borders.

Legal immigration, through a course following ANY nations specific guidelines, can be a benefit to the immigrant as well as the nation to which they are immigrating. Legal immigrants can bring diversity of talents, languages, and cultures, as well as help bolster economies by diversifying local and national economic bases. Individuals are able to legally join as a part in all aspects of their new local and national life, and integrate themselves into the local society.

Illegal immigration is exactly that: Illegal. When someone tries to enter and live in any country in a manner that is not in accordance with their laws, it should be punished just as the breaking of any other law is punished. If someone were to illegal immigrate to a country in Europe, Asia, South America, etc and be caught, those individuals would be charged with breaking the law and receive a punishment as demanded in the law. So why should it be any different in the United States, a land known for its justice system? It shouldn't.

A law is a law, weather it deals with protection of property, persons, etc, it is a law. A law stating that individuals are not allowed to enter the country without first applying for and receiving permission is therefore also a law that must be followed. When broken, any law must be upheld and the punisment dictated by the law fulfilled. Failure to do so weakens the authority of the governing body and makes individuals believe they can continue breaking laws.

Illegal imigrants should be punished acording to those punishments dictated in the US Immigration laws. They are breaking a law just like any other. Even though breaking immigration law alone doesn't necessarily effect any 1 person's property or safety, it is a broken law and can in turn have other detrimental effects on society.

As a nation, we need to continue to welcome all who desire to live in our great nation, and embrace with open arms those who wish to join in our culture and community, however, those who do come need to do so in a legal fashion, or be punished, and sent home. If people are told that they must come legally or they will be punished, sent home, and never allowed to legally come back, and then actually SEE IT HAPPEN it may give them second thoughts on doing something that will possibly make it impossible to ever return.

The United States of America is a great nation because of the laws we have set in place and follow. If individuals want to move here we'd love to have them, just do it legally so that the laws stay in tact and the nation you move to stays great.

More right wing conservative stupidity. Pat Buchanan started this nonsense in 1988 when he was running for president. His platform was "blame everything on the illegals".

These people are so dumb they don't realize that technology has eliminated a hundred times more jobs than illegals have "taken" over the last thirty years. They complain about the "cost" of illegals in health-care and education...but have no problem spending 40 times as much on an illegitimate WAR. Overall we spend 1/10 as much on social services as we do on bombs and war.

The sad part is that we have so many uneducated people, another by-product of conservatives, that it is easy to sell this garbage. Stupid white people swallow it hook, line and sinker. The same people that think Bush is "smart" or "honest".

First of all your spelling is atrocious. You didn't even say opinion...you said option..You mispelled illigal too - it's spelled illegal. I am not sure what YOUR opinion is, but I say if they can get a job, it's not their fault - it's the gringos who hire them. People like to pay little at restaurants, and for services, but then turn around and degrade and humiliate the people who make it possible. Give them a path for legal immigation, and you'll see illegal immigration slow way down.

I think it is the same in Nevada, where people are tired of illegal/undocumented aliens demanding the rights that were established for the legal citizens of that state and country.

If they want to become a part of this country, they need to learn the language (English) rather than demand their language is used in the school. They need to ask for things from bank ATM"s or voting ballots not be put in their native tongue.

They need to realize that the people who are upset are the people who see their tax money going for someone who cheated the system and enterred our country without permission.

There are many immigrants who follow the rules. What made them so special that they demand the right to come and go as they please?

Illegal immigrants unfortunately are a drain on our economy, the situations that people come over to the USA illegally are very sad. But because thy come over and work illegally and steal jobs from citizens of the US, the government pays for programs in health care and schooling. This is all costing us more money then we want to pay in taxes. Go back and then come over legally.

the illegal immigrants are a result of a world economic policy which ensures weathly countries remain wealthy and poor countries poor. Individuals in Mexico have decided to take matters into their own hands and move to the USA. When organizations like the WTO stop enforcing policies which promote this unfair division in wealth distribution, illegal immigration will stop
