an ugly polka dot skirt, a nurses plain dress and a crimson mini skirt. Those times were traumatising. I promised i would never do that to my child and i haven't so far.

I am now 42 years old and I can remember distinctly a photo graph taken when I was 2. I had on a red shirt my mother had sewn and store bought shorts my sister had a store bought dress and she held a small red ball we found on the road on the way to get the picture taken.
I also helped my mother pick out the buttons, I liked them because they matched the color of the shirt so well.

I used to wear this yellow dress with lace and short sleeves every-wear! I was less than 3 years old. My parents and I were walking next to this house that was being built, and I accidentally got tar all over it. I was so sad for a long time! It was my favorite! My fav color is yellow and somehow I think that pretty dress was most of the reason I love that color so much!

I remember as a kid in the first grade, I wore this shirt with some design on it,I can't remember what is was. But,we were very poor and some other kid started making fun of me for wearing a pajama top to school. I didn't know and I didn't care. I liked it.

I had this navy blue fress with very large, white polka dots, I hated that dress but I had to wear it because, in 1955, girls wore dresses even to the playground. Well, one day we were playing baseball and my younger brother walked his forehead into a swinging bat. He fell, unconsious and bleeding. I held his head in my lap until help came. Later on , I remarked that I was very happy that my brother had bled all over that dress because it had to be thrown away. My even younger sis told on me and I ended up getting my butt beat. So, I'll never forget that dress and I still don't like polka dots. My brother stayed in hosp. for 4 days and still didn't watch where he was going.

I had a red plaid jumper in 5th grade I remember well because one of my best friends had one exactly like it. I remember the first time we both wore them on the same day at school (not something we coordinated).
I also remember a blue/violet plaid dress my mom bought for me and for my cousin (also 5th grade). We wanted to dress up like twins and the dresses were on sale.

Hand sewn custom suit my mother made for me as a boy when I was about 8 years old. It was a tan with blue tweed two-button job. Though I didn't appreciate its quality workmanship and tailored fit then, I certainly do now. And I appreciate my mom now more than ever, and the love she sewed into every stitch of that suit.
