Just go to your Yahoo!Messenger and make sure you are
registered !
If you are , you should see a tiny window popping up next
to your clock any time you get a new mail !
And you should hear a huge sound too !
It sounds like a ton of glass crashing on the floor of your
kitchen . . .
Or anywhere else you can think of !
The first time , I had the maximum volume "on" but didn't
know !
When a mail arrived , I almost fell from my seat !
My PC is connected to an amplifier , so you can imagine
how jumpy it was !!!
PS: Make sure the volume of your PC is not on the
"ZERO" position !

Open / start messenger
sign on to yahoo messenger
click on 'messenger' menu
click on 'preferences'
click on 'alerts/sounds'
change the option that says "Alert me by: Playing a sound" and choose an appropriate wav sound from your system files.
done.
