Any good tricks to finding a hampster that has escaped from his cage?

Leave the cage door open. The hamster may go home. Check it often, or rig it so the door falls shut after the hamster enters (tie a string to it attatched to a favorite treat). Also, especially at night (hamsters are nocternal), make everybody be absolutely silent. Listen for the sounds. These techniques have worked for me.

What's a hamPster. I know a hamster is a cute little furry thing. Leave the cage on the floor with the top open and fill it with a lot of food, fresh veggies and any cherrios also. when it is hungry it will crawl back in

you may despite the indisputable fact that it probably wouldnt be that reliable of an idea. hampster cages are commonly lots smaller than a guinea pig cage. A guinea pig is way better than a hampster and needs significantly better area to roam round and play. yet once you've truly a kind of better tremendous hampster cages i could see no situation with it. reliable success!

do not listen to richard or i like me - both idiots. look behind the fridge, they are often there - dont move it though because u could squish him. also check the stove. have some broccoli or other fresh food with u to lure him in case he's there. put a bucket out with books or something leading up to it so he can crawl to the edge. make a trail of food on the books, just a tiny bit, leading up the books and then put broccoli (no water) in the bottom of the bucket he'll fall in and be trapped and waiting for u. a small trash can or anything not too tall with smooth sides works. he'll come out at night hungry.

DONT let a dog or cat find your hamster for you. Try this... take a bucket (at least a foot tall) and put lots of treats for your hammy in the bottom. Make a ramp so the hamster can get up to the bucket, he will then fall in, and it will be too tall for him to get out. You will most likely find him in the morning since hamsters are noctural. Try putting up a few of these traps, and good luck!

um... I've run into this problem quite a few times and everytime they've been found look places where there is easy access to food and water I found one in one of our bottom kitchen cabinets. They like dark spots and they'll only come out at night twice we have caught them by seeing them run accross the room at aroun midnight. check behind T.V. and the fridge. you'll find them probably after you start to notice somethings been getting chewed on. Good Luck

I ve had this happen too. My hamster actually went behind the couch and made a hole to go into the couch. When we looked inside he came right out when he saw me. Try looking in places like this, move furniture around carefully! Good Luck!

Wait till dark, then listen for him. And poop following is good too.

I caught and kept someones hamster on the sidewalk in front of 7-11 once, so becareful he doesn't get out. They can chew through screens.

Borrow a cat if you don't have one. Then show the cat the cage and let him smell it. Then watch the cat. He will find it but grab the cat fast so you can catch it first. Or a bloodhound will do.
