Does anyone know how to get the green top off for Boone in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland?

hit the a button rapidly! it tells you. and once you get it moving and than you feel like you cant go anymore just pause rest to get ur energy back and than hit unpause and start hitting a again. or X if its PS2
