If you are a Star Wars fan, I highly recommend either of the following:
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic I
or
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
They are very cool! The storylines are awesome in that it is never the same thing twice! Your decisions throughout the game determine whether or not other events will happen later on.
Note: You have to buy these from Wal-mart or a local computer store.

The most popular free RPG is still Diablo 2. It's old, but the gameplay is really addictive. You can create an incredibly powerful character in a relatively short time, and acquiring rare powerful items is better on this game than on any other out there.

It's really hard to beat the original "Dungeons and Dragons." As for computer, I think it would have to be the "Might and Magic" series.
