Depending on the county, it can run from a mere $100 to $750, from my experiences dealing with people trying to enlist in the military. I have also known many that received only probation due to being just a first offense, if under 18 years of age.

I went to court today and walked away very suprised. I showed up early just to be considerate, but then waited in a waiting room for over an hour. Finally getting to talk to the City Attorney, he offered a plea bargin in which we were to plead guilty or not guilty. If guilty we would get a defered sentance with a list of punishments. I took that because I didn't want to risk fighting it before a judge and loosing, and then having it go on my record with much worse penalties.
Anyway, here is what was issued to us in the plea bargin:
$100 City Fine
$50 Drug/Alcohol Surcharge
$20 Victim's Fee
20 hours of community service
Level 1 Alcohol Classes ($60)
and this is the kicker...
A new invention they call the Alcohol Monitor Program in which I have to wear an ankle bracelet for 14 days. I have no problem wearing the bracelet because I don't drink alcohol, therefor it won't affect me, but they charge you $11 a day for use. Thats $154. The thing is, this bracelet is new and is only given to second time MIP offenders. The CA said we had to wear the bracelet because of the fight, which I think is rediculous because I for one was not involved in the fight. Only 4 individuals were. The cops never issued a breath-a-lizer or an alcohol test and there was no alcohol on the premise either.
So its going to be $380 for one huge mistake. Although I would hate to do it, the next time my buddies decide to rumble with random kids, I will be running away. I am a college student paying for school and am VERY upset that I have to throw away $380. I have no problem doing the community service, sitting through class, or wearing the bracelet, but the money kills it.

Probably none of us here will know for sure. In California, as in other states, there are different cite sections that apply to possession for alcohol. And even if aware of the section, etc, the courts update their fine schedules from time to time, so really the best way to find out is to call the court (phone number on the back of the citation) and give them the violation section number. That's the surest path to an exact quote.

if you're in man or woman courtroom, then you in easy words want a criminal representative, no longer a determine. i imagine 17 is lower than the criminal age for possession and intake of alcohol in California, so a motorized vehicle does no longer want to be modern-day for the officer to position a can charge on your case. As for curfew, it incredibly is yet another party of authorities infringement of someone's' liberty. I surely do not comprehend on consequences, yet when you're convicted it may properly be in easy words a superb and probably probation. despite the indisputable fact that it truly is going to be on your record which could mess you up contained in the destiny.

I'm guessing you're under 21.
The offense is a misdemeanor and the maximum penalty is a
fine of up to $250. If you were driving, you could lose your license for a year.

Did they write you up for DUI or just an opened bottle of alcohol? Also, was the car "running" or were you just sitting in the car with it turned off? That's a technicality that you may mention to your lawyer; I had a friend who was drunk and passed out in his car(running) and he was arrested for DUI; If the car wasn't running, he would've gotten off...That's Ny State...

Probably around $100, it is not too serious unless you have had priors.
