If you're wearing a "little bit" of sunblock and a lot of baby oil, you're defeating the purpose! Please DON'T wear baby oil in the sun. You are setting yourself up for skin cancer..............Big Time! That's what girls in the 70's and 80's did, and now they look like old prunes from being all dried up and leathery, or they have to stay out of the sun entirely because of an allergic reaction or they have contracted melonama - i.e. skin cancer. You can DIE from skin cancer. If you must tan, you should use a tanning salon spray on tan. Or, jergens or many of the other brand name products now make a skin dying (tanning) lotion, that you apply daily to build a tan, and they leave your skin moisturized. I used to own a tanning salon, and educated people on the finer points of "safe tanning", however, I too sold the business, after I watched so many (women) abuse tanning beds, and put themselves in harms way. I don't know how old you are, but if you continue to use baby oil for a quick tan, so that you may look hot for that certain someone or someone's, you will be so sorry by the time you are 30!! I know that 30 seems like a very long way off, but it will be here sooner than you know it. If I can teach you anything, it would be to tan responsibly, and slowly. Please put the baby oil away. Also, baby oil will clog your skin pores, and is best not used at all............even after a shower. Use almond oil, grapeseed oil or any other "natural" oil, to work with and for your skin.

The best hours of sun are between 10am and 2pm. Going out during these times of day will be beneficial to you working on a nice tan. I would continue wearing sunscreen with about 15 or 30 SPF and make sure it's sweat and waterproof so you don't have to reapply. Oh and oil should be ok too but use in moderation, don't bake yourself! Remember if you are around or in the water, that intensifies your amount of sun by more than 60%! Be careful not to burn because peeling is horrible and you might speckle. Good luck and enjoy your summer!

I'd advise against getting a tan in the sun. Whilst a sun tan may look attractive what you're actually seeing is damaged skin and the more tanned a person is the more damaged their skin. Unlike the tan which fades in time, the damage is permanent. At best a sun tan leads to premature aging of the skin which means that whilst you may look nice now you'll pay the price in later life.
There are of course the risks of cancer and in particular melanoma - this begins in the cells that produce melanocytes (skin coloration) and frequently develops into metastatic melanoma (where it spreads to the brain). Treatment includes surgical resection and zapping the brain with radiation (stereotactic radiosurgery).
Is it really worth the risk when you can buy a tan in a bottle. My advice would be to talk to a beautician, pharmacist or dermatologist and see which product is best suited to your skin type.

Why would anybody, with all that we now know about cancer, premature skin ageing etc, want to do this in the first place? It is damaging and dangerous to tan in the sun - as are all tanning salons.
A tan is the skin's frantic response to burning. It is a reaction to damage.
Do what the models do (and anybody with half a brain), go for a fake tan every time!

i found that bain de solei makes a great tanning lotion for outside tanning that also contains a bronzer like tan enhancer... i've gotten really dark in just a few days... went to buy it yesteday and they were all out so i got another brand that has a self bronzer in it too... try the drugstore. the spf is very low if that is a concern for you, but it is definitely better than baby oil (probably one of the worst things you can use when tanning if you hope to not develop skin cancer!)

Well, i wouldent stay in the sun too much! YOu dont want to get a really bad sun burn or even skin cancer! I would use Tanning Creame, but not th ekinds that BRIGHT ORANGE! :) I would use Olay Tanning creame because each day you put it on, you get a little tanner, and you can stop when you liek your tan!

you'll burn real good with just baby oil on
here's what always worked for me; take a shower bout an hour before you plan to go out, exfoliate your skin really well with a loofa or exfoliating sponge, towel dry and apply spf8 lotion all over, wait for at least 1/2 hour before going out, then put more on just as you go out into the sun.

Use Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tan or, best of all if you can get it, natural coconut oil from Hawaii or Mexico. baby oil isn't aall that good for you...it can cause your skin to burn instead of tan.

Buy an extremely large magnifying glass and stand underneath it. That should get you a tan VERY QUICKLY.
