The idea of respect is different in every culture. There are many Christian cults and churches where people are taught that women are inferior, and thus cannot demand the respect a man does. I am sure some Arab men treat their wives as equals, and a great majority don't.

It depends on the individual person just like in every other culture. I know several Muslim couples and for the most part, yes the men absolutely respect, love, and take care of their wives. I worked as a nanny for a Muslim couple a few years back and it always amazed me how loving the husband was toward his wife. But just like with Americans, there are exceptions to every rule. I'm sure there are some men that do not respect their wives or women in general. You just can't lump them all into one catagory and say that they are all this way or that. Stereo typing makes no sense when every single human being has their own distinct personality.

I believe that Muslims follow the Koran. Wives must be submissive at all times. The men demand respect. They do not tolerate adultery, dishonesty, and being lied to. As far as respecting the woman...one must give respect in order to get respect. The Arab men do respect their woman and will not allow them to cross certain boundaries that are prohibited. The Arab man will not allow harm to come into the way of their families. No matter what price.

As far as Muslim men, yes they respect their wives very much. As far as Arab men I can't say because even Christians and Jews are Arab so might have to ask them.

FYI: The largest Muslims population are not arab or not even second or third....

My neighbor was married to a prominent Saudi man and lived in Saudi Arabia and was treated absolutely poorly. Abused her, locked her in her room if she didn't prepare dinner properly.. mother in law took precedence over her. And on and On...

But I am sure that there are very loving husbands there as like there are real jerk husbands here in America.. (like polygamists)

I think Arabs are more famous for being "stern" because of their culture. Many argue that most of the middle east is still in a mind set of the middle ages.

Muslims think they respect their wives.
This means, that no one else respects their wives.
This includes christians, atheists, jews, hindu, confucians, infidels, gyaurs, etc.
