Go to Apple's website and download their free iTunes software.

http://www.apple.com/itunes/

And no, you don't need an iPod to use it and there are no hidden costs. Just add your songs to the library by opening them from the iTunes File menu or drag them onto the iTunes window.

To make a CD, create a new playlist by clicking + at the bottom left of the iTunes window, and select the songs in your Library list you want on the CD. Remember that a CD can only hold about 70 mintues of music, but iTunes will display how much time it will take to play your playlist. You can add, delete or drag your tracks in any order you want till you're happy with your selection.

Click the Burn Disc button in the top right, insert a disc, let iTunes do its magic and your CD is done, ready to put in your car and rock away.

iTunes by far is the best music player on the market. And it's free.

Enjoy.

If you have Nero or a similar burning software just choose to create an audio disc and it will convert the format for you.

Use windows media player to burn the files to the disk, they will be formatted correctly by the player itself.
