Call the mortgage company IMMEDIATELY. Tell them what your situation is and ask for a deferral. If the person on the other end says s/he can't help you, ask to speak to their manager. No guarantees here - some will, some won't, but you don't know until you ask. If you're too far behind (more than three months) they may have already started foreclosure proceedings, at which point it may be too late. So the sooner you call, the better.

Contact your lender and let them know what you are going through.... dont just ignore them. Ask them for help. They will lead you to Salvation Army, perhaps a church for help. Friends, have a yard sale (helped me!).
