In the beginning a promise ring was a token given by someone under age that was serious about wanting to marry another person who was under age. In other words it was a promise to get engaged as soon as you were legally old enough to marry. When they became of legal age, then the engagement ring would be bought if they still felt this way. In my day, that was the story.

It means that the person who gave it to you. Promise to love you and marry you one day. I had my promise ring for 2 years and now I am married. Just know that it means a good thing.

many guys get there girls a promise ring without a meaning, especially teens
it really suppose to mean a promise to marry her its to hold her over until he can afford the engagement ring.

most guys it means nothing....because they make you think that they will be faithful and only loving you when they are only making sure that you will be there if the other relationships go bad for him. some guys actually will keep the promise of the ring and do mean it good luck

different things....usually it's a promise to eventually be engaged (like a pre-engagement ring), but can be a promise to be faithful or honest, take care of the person, be forever with them, or many other things as well.
