In 1968 gas on the interstate highway system was around 40 cents a gallon, but you could get it further off of the interstate for 19 cents a gallon. I remember a gas war in a local city when the price was 17.9 cents a gallon.

Monoply set in. Competition went out.
OPEC gained a strangle hold.
A phony gas crisis arose.
The rest is history.
It has to make us really appreciate the
common sense our forefathers had.
