My nephew bought a pinky mouse to feed to his garden snake, but then couldn't feed it to the snake. How can I raise it? I've been feeding it as often as I can for the past 2 days with soy milk, regular milk and baby kitten milk using a very small seringe. It's in a small cage with a light on it.

It's very nice that you're trying to raise it, but first make sure not to get your hopes up. I've read that the younger the mouse, the harder it is to raise. A pinky has less than a 20% rate of survival, and that's assuming the human is doing absolutely everything correctly.

Do not feed it cow's milk, and I wouldn't suggest soy milk either. The kitten formula might be okay, but I would check at the pet store for a more general formula- I know some sell ones for everything from raccoons to foxes to smaller animals, too. I believe it is called "Esbilac". Also remember that baby mice cannot go to the bathroom themselves either. You may be feeding it correctly, but you'll have to stimulate it to relieve itself, otherwise it'll die anyways.

This site has a lot more in-depth information: http://www.rmca.org/Articles/orphans.htm

I will summarize some of it here:
Stimulation: Use a cotton ball (or your finger) dipped in warm water and lightly and quickly brush over their private parts. If the baby is dehydrated, it may not urinate.

Warmth: If the baby has no fur or its eyes are closed, the housing must be placed on a heating pad set on LOW. Put its housing half on and half off of the heating pad. Place soft snuggly bedding in the bottom and put the baby in, then add more bedding to cover the baby. Place a cover over the housing so the heat doesn't escape. The baby must be warmed up before it will drink. (MAKE SURE NOT TO OVERHEAT)

Weight/Feeding: Weigh the baby. Divide the weight by two to get the number of ccs to feed. For example, if the baby weighs 6 grams, you will feed .3 cc. If the baby weighs 7.7 grams, you will feed .38 cc. Continue to weigh daily and keep records. A decrease in weight may occur until the baby is established on the formula. After that, there should be a steady increase in weight.

I hope some of this helps, good luck raising the baby! I breed mice but have never attempted raising a pinky myself. It is very kind of you to try.

um...best chance is to take it to the pet store because it won't survive chances are it's either not getting any food and starving to death or he could end up choking and have it go into his lungs. I've tried and it doesn't work not to mention they need lots of warmth. Good Luck
