That is a very broad reaching question. Classic rock there are tons from Acid Rock (Pink Floyd) to The Who to the begginings of rock like Elvis Presley, Lil Richard, and hell even Leadbelly. More modern examples come from Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, and Motley Crue. In a broader definition of rock you could include The Cure, INXS, and Cheap Trick. If your more into NuMetal then Korn, System of a Down, and Limp Bizkit are alright. Pop Punk more your forte then Green Day and Blink 182 are for you.
Like country and rap there are so many subgenres of rock music you have to be a bit more narrowed down.

Anything by The Beatles, I especially like the Sun King Medley on Abbey Road. You can take any one of their Albums (CD's) now and listen to them all the way through and always have something excellent. The White Album is also fantastic. There are far too many songs of them to name to pick the best.
