Our policy at that time for communism was containment. The place where the north and south korean border is is where we stopped fighting the Korean war. The North was controlled by a communist government and the south was a free government and capitalistic.

It was a United Nations mandate and as usual we had to carry the brunt of it. They should've allowed Gen. MacArthur to nuke the Chinese who were helping North Korea. Then we wouldn't have this mess we're in right now.
