As the others have said, check for web links about perineal massage.

Talk to your caregiver about what they will do during labor to help prevent tearing. Talk about supporting your perineum during pushing, using warm compresses, perineal massage, or waterbirthing. Talk about being allowed to switch positions during labor and follow your own body instead of pushing while someone else counts to ten. Follow what YOUR body tells you to do when pushing. DO NOT push flat on your back with your feet in stirrups. Squatting opens up your pelvis wider and is a good positon to push in. If you will be in a hospital, many birthing beds have a squat bar that can be put up for you to hold on to. If they'll let you out of bed, have your partner support you from behind while you squat.

if you are laying on your back, prolly your partner, will need to [lubricate a bit] with two fingers rub the bottom of the outer edge of your vaginal opening with a small amount of pressure in a semi-circle, half moon
eventually make it three fingers with more pressure
ANY good midwife, [doctors dont care most times] will do this durnig delivery as well to "prime" you as well
