There are unidentified flying objects, but there are no alien spacecraft. What does that mean? Well a Russian spy plane could be seen by pilots and it is not supposed to be there but if it's a unique design not easily recognizable as a plane, people will believe they saw a UFO. At least 30 or 40 years ago when they were our cold war enemy, not so much nowadays. Or it could be a weather baloon in some cases, or a meteorite, or space debris reentering the earths atmosphere. Even hoaxters are out there. No alien beings though.

If you are asking have we on Earth been visited by extraterrestrial UFO's, then probably not. The odds are against it for several reasons, of which the most important are:

1. mass-energy, like UFO's, is limited to the speed of light. That means, it would take at least 4.3 years for a UFO to travel to Earth from our closest stellar neighbors (e.g., Proxima Centuri).

2. at or near the speed of light, mass-energy comes close to infinity; meaning a near infinite amount of energy will be needed to propel a UFO near the speed of light.

3. the universe continues to expand; all galaxies are getting farther and farther from each other over time. This means the vast distances are getting even vaster. This means the likelihood of a visit from a neighboring star cluster is becoming even more remote.

UFO's make good science fiction reading, but real science says they are unlikely. Now, if you want some real science that's equally as interesting, check out Brian Greene and string theory. Parallel universes, existing side by side, are feasible and they may be only 10^-33 cm away. (A Plank distance away.)

I think given the overwhelming amount of QUALITY eyewitness accounts and both the official and unofficial interest shown in UFOs by governments around the world I think its a safe assumption to say yes they do exist. That of course leads to another question....WHAT ARE UFOS?.......there a huge leap between something you might see and cant identify and the idea they are extraterrestrial......that part Im not so sure of. I think many, many sightings are of things manufactured right here on earth in the form of secret government projects. Drones, RPVs, stealth aircraft and the like. Things the govt isnt prepared to admit exist because of thier sensitive nature. If you were to go to court with the available information youd have a decent shot at winning a case to prove that UFOs do exist...as i said what they are is a different question entirely. But over the past 50 years hundreds if not thousands of pilots, radar operators, air traffic controllers, military personel, law enforcment officials and others trained in observation have made many quality sightings. These arent people walking out of a bar at 3am but highly qualified people who have nothing to gain and a lot to lose by making such claims. So yes id say your on safe ground believing that UFOs do exist...what are they?....thats another question.

In the sense that space ships carrying aliens around, I doubt it. In terms of secret aircraft being tested, sure. I think that's the government's responsibility to develop new aircraft to protect our nation and our alies. The government has been, in my opinion, careless from time-to-time, as to where and how they test them so that curious eyes see them. Yet there are' Roswell incidents' all over the globe that give the public sufficent reason wonder if we have been 'visited' before and now by creatures outside our galaxy. These opinions are generally based on observations of unknown flying objects traveling at incredible speeds, leaving little, or no evidence, of their propulsion through the sky. It's natural to base our observations on what we know and understand about physics, aviation, and our universe. Yet, the questions persist...

i agree with crapex. UFO means unidentified flying object. so anything in the air which can't be identified (even if its a really far-off plane or helicopter or space debris) is a UFO. so yes, they do exist.

Yes because every time you see an unidentified flying object, it is a UFO. If you can identify the flying object it is not a UFO. But to tell you what they are...

No. REAON being, IIIIIIII believe, is, that there are SO MANY SATELLITES circling the Earth at DIFFERENT ORBITS, there is NO WAY a UFO could get through without being SPOTTED on ENTRY into the Earth's gravitaional PULL!!
