Brass cleaner.
There are different polishes which remove tarnish. Some will leave behind a protective coating to help keep the tarnish from returning. That is the one thing guaranteed with brass. It will tarnish. Most new fixtures have a laquer finish on the brass to keep the air from oxidizing the finish, but eventually it will break down.

You can find the cleaner in any discount store or grocery store in the cleaning section, usually on the top row. Brasso is most likely the most common one. Have plenty of old rags as they get very dirty removing tarnish.

Sorry, coke is not a correct answer. It will just help add more tarnish! Do not try this. The key is to clean the brass and then protect it from any elements.

liquids such as 'brasso' are available in any hardware shop. If the brass was not cleaned for a long time, you need to repeatedly clean the thing before you get really good shine. and and you need to clean once a week to keep it shiny.
