I have noticed that my clothes are starting to come out bally9lint balls) after they have been washed. What do you think this is from? Is it from the laundry detergent? I am using Surf right now. Is there anything I can do to bring my clothes back to life?

It could be cashmere, wool, flannel, cotton, or even a synthetic fiber, but chances are, one of your favorite sweaters will eventually pill. Pilling occurs when groups of fibers break, tangle, and mat together, making the texture of the sweater rough and decidedly unattractive. Fortunately, there are ways to prevent pilling, such as following the manufacturer’s care instructions, turning the garment inside out before washing, making sure to use the gentle cycle (and shorter washing-machine cycles in general), removing the garment from the dryer immediately, and brushing the sweater regularly with a lint or bristled garment brush. But if pills do appear, you can try one of the following techniques to remove them.

Remove the little balls, one pill at a time, using a small pair of scissors or a razor blade, being careful not to damage the fabric by cutting too close to the surface. Or, you can purchase a sweater comb or electric fabric shaver, then drag it across the fabric to remove the pills. These battery-operated devices can also be used on furniture and blankets; they’re are available in various sizes and usually come with removable rings designed to protect delicate textiles. Just be sure that you aren’t wearing the garment while de-pilling it, and remember to empty the pill trap when it’s full.

could be your laundry detergent, but it is probably more like the types of clothes that you are washing together. If you go to a fabric store or dept. store...you could probably purchase a shaver type thing, run on batteries that is specifically designed for removing those lint balls, or you could try a good old bic shaver, and do it by hand. Also, you might want to try a good fabric softener

Those "balls" are actually pieces of lint and fibers from the fabric that have come together, and made your clothes look old. This mostly happens to sweaters or t-shirt materials. You can get rid of them by using a sweater/fabric shaver, which will cut them off nicely. Try not to overdry these clothes in a dryer.

If yoru clothes are made of cotton they will do this for a while until all the excess stuff comes off and your shirts are no longer stretchable. If it's some other fabric you may want to try reading the directions for washing on the tag.

Try washing your clothes in Woolite on the gentle cycle. It's worked wonders for my clothes. I had similar problems when I started buying nicer clothes for work but still had the kid mentality of how to wash clothes. Besides, Woolite smells better than Surf. :)

it's not from the detergent. it's from the other clothes or items you're washing along.

anything that produces a lot of lint will put those balls on your clothes, and those items should be washed seperately.

new towels, for example, will put those balls on your clothes if you wash them together in one load.

I have gotten those little balls on tops and skirts before. Don't know what causes it, but if you will take a razor blade and shave your item of clothing it will clean right up. I guess you could also use a de-fuzzer too.

.Don't dry your clothes on HOT. For the balls you already have, you can lightly shave them with a razor!

MY theory as to what causes the balls is this:

Melted Plastic from the nylon clothing! From drying at too hot a temperature

It happens sometimes. Try washing them inside out.Wash colors with other colors. Do a separate load for towels, socks and underwear. Hope this helps.
