I used to think that it was no question that Alexander was gonna be better then Portis this season but more and more i've seen people with opposing opinions. It makes sense for Portis to break out with the new passing corps that will take pressure off. what do u think?

DO NOT TRY TO ANSWER IF U TRULY DO NOT KNOW A LOT ABOUT FANTASY FOOTBALL.

Christopher, Redskins have a good passing team now cause they got Brandon Lloyd and Randel El and already have Santana Moss and Chris Cooley

One thing I've learned in my years of FFB, you don't downgrade a stud until he downgrades himself. Too many people jump off bandwagons because they think "surely he can't do it again THIS year", or "he's wearing down", or even though an owner may not admit it, "if I'm right with this surprise pick I'll look like a genius! BWAHAHAHAHHA!" So you have to keep riding Alexander until he shows you he's washed up. As good as Portis will be, Alexander will still be better.

This is what I think:

If you have the 1st pick: Take Alexander

If you have the 2nd pick and the 1st guy took LJ, or even if you're Reggie Bush and you have the 2nd pick and you talked the guy with the 1st pick to select you cuz you won the Heisman: Take Alexander

If you have the 3rd pick, and the 1st two guys are Chiefs and Chargers fans: Take Alexander

If you have the 4th pick: Take Portis, cuz if Alexander is still here, it's obviously a cruel joke.

If you have the 5th pick: Look for Portis, cuz the big argument is Portis vs. Barber for 4th or 5th. Alexander should be so far of an afterthought that I shouldn't have to type this.

If you have the 6th pick and The Big 3 went where they were supposed to, Ronde Barber had the 4th pick and Dennis Green selected 5th: Then take Portis. He won't last to 6th in any other situation.

If you have the 7th pick or lower: Don't even seriously think you'll see either of them on your team this season, unless you offer a lopsided trade to a 5 year old who has them...and even then I'm stretching.

Look, sked is overrated. Alexander was rushing champ and record-setter for rushing TDs in a season. Portis looked better last year than in 04, and I've even heard rumors of the Skins expecting 2000 yards from him.

Bottom line: Alexander had 1880 and 28 last season. Portis didn't. Until proven otherwise, Alexander is better.

Ok, Alexander is a better numbers guy, so fantasy wise go with him. My opinion and my fantasy RB is Portis. Alexander is soft and there passing attack will not be as good this year. Also Have to disagree Redskins passing game will be better this year. Portis is a good back to have. If you have first pick, or if I had first pick I would take L.T. or L. Johnson. Also do not expect Tiki Barber to do nearly as well this year.

It doesnt matter who is better- even though it is obviously Alexander. What you want is someone who will get you fantasy points. Shawn Alexander will get more points because he can find the endzone and he stays healthy- unlike clinton portis. Also- redskins have a pretty bad passing game which will make teams test the pass and play strong run D. Seahawks have a good run and pass game so Defenses will play more balanced, allowing Alexander to get mor TD's and yards.
Alexander will to far better for your fantasy team.

Even though the seahawks lost the left half of their offensive line during the off season, alexander is still the better running back. anyone who breaks the record of touchdowns in a season is better than clinton portis who had like 11 td as opposed to 28!

alexander is a safe pick he should go 2nd or 3rd overall. portis has the potential to be a top 3 or 4 rb, but he should not go ahead of alexander. i'd take him about mid to late 1st round.

Seattle has one of the softest schedules this year and Alexander is always good for 15 TD's and crazy yards. He's my first pick for sure.
