My best friend is leaving for college in a few weeks and id like to get him something to show him how much I appreciate him, were both guys, not gay or anything but it should be thoughtfull.... anyone have any ideas?

Well a movie that you both love is probably a nice fun way to go. If theres some sort of item you know he needs you may want to consider getting it for him. If you have an inside joke that always gives a laugh perhaps a little somethign that he can look at and be reminded of it when he's having a rough time. If your really drawing a blank, you can always get a gift card to something.

Guys are just like women in that they talk to their best friend about everything and anything.
So my suggestion would be cell phones on the same plan or some way to text message each other whenever you want to.
Just some way to keep in touch without it costing a fortune.

And/or a small fridge at least big enough for a six-pack -- of pop of course. :)
Unless you know such appliances are not allowed there. In which case, maybe a graphing calculator.
Um, will he hit you if you give him a nice teddy bear to sleep with until...
No, I got it. Maybe a subscription to his home-town newspaper so he can keep up while he's gone. This works best if it's a small town, naturally.

A scrap book would be nice because it'll help stop your friend from being too homesick. And if you want your friend to be a little less scared of college, they have these amazing and cute little books that help new college students survive. and every time your friend uses, and believe me she will, she'll be reminded of your special relationship and be eternally grateful.
