Yes, and people say its much more painful as an adult.

Also, if you have had chicken pox at any time in your life, you may then develop shingles later in life. This is a very painful disease which is very difficult to cure.

In the South Park episode 210, the parents of the children plot to infect all their children. Instead parents should vaccinate their children at an early age against this disease.

If you have never had chicken pox then you can get it. Some people have such a mild case that it was not recognized as a case of chicken pox. So, if all your siblings got it and you were around them but did not get sick - you may have been exposed enough to be immune. Sometimes people who have had chicken pox can get it again - these would be similar scenario - such a mild case that they did not build up enough immunity to prevent getting it again. You can have a blood test to detect Varicella Zoster IgG to see if you are immune - there is a new immunization now for children, but I am not sure if it is safe for adults. Some vaccinations for children should NOT be given to adults. The only way to have the test done is to get an order from a physician.

If you are exposed to the chicken pox virus you can get chicken pox as an adult. In some cases adult chicken pox can be very serious, and lead to hospitalisation and even death.

Everything is possible but unlikely if you had Chicken pox when young!! By having it when young, you are "immunized" against it!!. If occurring in adults, it is much more dangerous and aggressive!! So go "Chicken Little"!!!

Well, you need to divulge a little bit of your history to us before we would be able to tell you that. Have you ever had it before? If you have, then the chances of you getting it are extremely low; it might even be impossible. Now, it is still possible to get it as an adult if you've never had it.

You could, I did......even though I had them when I was a kid......& it's even more miserable when you're an adult. I would have been physically run down at the time & a friend's kids had them, I didn't worry about that thinking I'd be safe....but I wasn't!!!
