my last question someone says yes, the constitution helps terrorism not defends us against it. If you give up your homes, your jobs, your money, yours and your children's futures to be ruled by foriegn nationals, how is the constitution helping terrorism? You are already losing your right to free speech, to bear arms, your quality of life, becoming a police state, your privacy, Americans speaking out against this are being labled unamerican, is this really worth losing the constitution to you?

OK, point by point, I'll try to make some sense of what you are asking: (1) a war on terror can't be won. Neither can a war on death, so it's not logical to think in terms of winning/losing. Should we fight terror is a better question. (2) Fascist has two s's in it, and is a political term far too loosely thrown around, so I'm not sure what you mean there. Do you want marital law? State controlled schools/factories/etc? (3) the constitution was written by essentially 18th century philosophes who were not trying to safeguard the world against terrorism so much as tyranny by a king (4) What foreign (it breaks the i before e rule) nationals are exactly running the country? (Seriously, I don't know what you mean there). (5) How is the constitution helping terrorism? Is it supposed to? (6) Your right to free speech has been scrutinized by the Supreme Court since WWI, so ... (7) Last time I checked, NRA as powerful as ever. Need more proof? Check out our murder rates! (8) Quality of life, well, again, go back to the Constitution and the people who wrote it. Read B. Franklin's autobiography to understand what they meant about how life shold be lived (9) Police state? Clearly you have never lived in a police state (10) The right to be left alone is implied but not specifically in the constitution (11) Back to free speech, I don't think anyone who actually offers a fair dialogue about the state of the country is labelled an un-American. (12) Do you know what the constitution says? Are you arguing for or against the constitution?

I know you don't believe everything the networks and the newspapers feed you. I've always wondered why the media refuse to show the WTC attacks. Some say it's "too soon" or that it would create some kind of "negative backlash" against people of Arab descent. Others have said that it's unfair to the relatives.
Of course we all know it's OK to tell and show the story of 9/11 when a profit can be made. Witness two movies out of Hollywood in the last 5mos. Remember........the people who control Hollywood also run the American networks and newspapers. They're all part of the same "family"... so to speak.
These people do us regular folk no favors by ignoring the reality of 9/11.... as if it's already ancient history. The next terrorist attack, sometime within the next 10yrs, will be nucluer and Americans will not be prepared. We will be caught off gaurd (again) because we refuse to learn from our own history. Our government.... all three branches... have made some ill advised decisions since 9/11. Let's not forget that WE THE PEOPLE elected the guys and gals. We spend so much time playing politics and discussing everything that effective, long-term counter-terrorism measures have not been developed.
I fear the terrorist have managed to exploit our greatest strength .... the willingness to engage in debate and discussion of new ideas. Our strength is also our weakness when it comes to dealing with these mindless murderers. Terrorists are not open minded. They focus only on slaughtering anybody who does not beleive as they do.
Some things to THINK about:
if you haven't lived in Cuba then you don't know what a police state is; or what it is to have no freedom of speech or press (just ask the Cubans in Miami).
gun control: gun control is when the American govt. takes weaponry out of the hands of its citizens (except for the crooks.. they will always break the law to have them). Why would your govt., which controls the military, not want you to have any weaponry of your own?
did you know: George Washington refused to sign the Constitution (and its original ammendments) UNTIL citizens were guaranteed the right to take up arms against tyrannical govt. If Bush institutes a police state over the next two years I would want the weapons and the forces to fight back.
Continue to read and research the foundations of America. You're asking the right questions. Google the "federalist papers" and read them. You will be glad you did. You also said, " [We] are already losing our right to free speech, to bear arms, our quality of life, becoming a police state, our privacy, Americans speaking out against this are being labled unamerican..... ect."
You're correct... to a degree. Some freedoms will be sacrificed in order sift out real threats. The real question is wether or not freedoms put on hold will ever be returned to us. A legitimate concern. On the other hand, just because a mob of people believe the things you spoke of doesn't make it so. Most people don't think... or observe... or read..... or even listen ... lol... before they speak.
For two hundred years we have truly been blessed with freedoms that no other country offers. The sacred freedoms we possess in America have ALWAYS come with a huge price tag: blood. If you study the histories of Eastern and Western civilisations it is clear that it is not in Man's nature to allow one another to live in freeedom. Freedoms are only acheived.. and maintained..(unfortunately)... through a willingness to fight and die for them...if need be. Your children and grandchildren are to young to understand or to fight. So if they are to experience the freedoms we now have, many Americans will go to their death defending the sanctity of liberty. Without liberty what is life worth?

I think the USA has become more right-wing each year since 1986, when Pat Robertson ran for presidency. There is very little you can personally do about the situation except vote, write letters to your congressmen and remain alert.
I do not think our forefathers envisioned the USA as the country we have today : a drug-ridden, intolerant, police state.
