I think all of us are guilty of this. We hear bits and pieces of this story or that and apply our own predispositions, logic, religious and political viewpoints and run with it.
Truth is a very fragile thing. Why do any of us think we have ever experienced it...?

Because they want to. I know from first hand experience. Perhaps they are bored. Perhaps they want to believe the worst in others.
