Elevate the foot, use ice first 24 hours, get a tetanus shot
one every ten years, then use epsom salts later after the swelling goes down.If there is a question about a foreign body being in the foot, go to the doctor and get it x rayed How to know if it is infected.........swelling, drainage, fever redness, ect.

You might try a compression wrap and soak your foot in 1 cup of Epsom salt mixed with 1 qt of cool water

It is infected. go see a doctor.
If you had sprained it the proper procedure for Icing it is 20 min. of ice, 40 min. warming up and repeat.
any time you receive a deep puncture wound, GO TO THE DOCTOR. you cannot get it cleaned out effectively. If you are not careful and take too long to GO TO THE DOCTOR you will lose your foot.

Go see a Doc ASAP since you need antibiotics and a Tetanus shot!! If not you may lose your foot as you may step on a "Rusty Nail" (not the drink) and end up with lockjaw too!! Good luck!

Get your tail down to the emergency immedietly!! Sounds like you got Tetnus. They'll give you a shot. If untreated, it could become fatal. So it's not something to mess around with...
You should also try raising your leg. It lessens the amount of blood flowing to the foot.

It probably is infected...
And if you really think that it isn't... You could have fractured a bone in your food.
Are you keep your foot about your heart level and elevating it?
You need to go in and make sure that you have your tetanus shot up to date.... unless you've had one in the last 5 years.
If your foot is hard and red, take it in to the ER to make sure you don't have a compartment syndrome going on in it.

How do you know its not infected because if you stepped on a nail it is highly likely that it is. Go to the doctor and get it checked out because it will only get worse.

Seriously, go to an emergency room. It is likely that your foot has an infection you aren't aware of. If it gets out of control you may have to have painful surgeries and could even(worse case scenario) lose your foot. Go now!!!!
