I love rap music, but yes the lyrics are getting worse!

In regards to Nuff said...Fusion jazz has no melody but yet it is truly Music. Rap is an art form SET TO MUSIC the beats behind it qualifies it as music not the lyrics for if it was based on just the lyrics it would be considered poetry as you yourself stated. Getting back to the question though the lyrics are getting worse because the content from where there rhymes are coming from are basically fabricated and not truly lived or em brassed....In my opinion

Sorry, but rap is not music. Some kind of weird poetry variant, perhaps. Music has rhythm and melody. Since rap has no melody, it's not music.
