I want to keep my 1970 bug mostly stock. I don't really like the pear shaped side-mirror that orignally goes on the '70 however.
I was wondering if anyone knew where i could buy a round left side mirror that would mount to the stock mirror mount ( located on the A pillar part of the door)

You might need to customize it.... Because I don't think there's a round mirror available that would mount on your stock 70's bug. The round mirrors are mostly for the old bugs - mounted on the door hinge.
But you can experiment.
