I kinda think it should. Some people report people for silly things. It's so messed up. However, I think we only need to report people who are crossing the line of offensiveness and who are really disgusting in their posts. And for people who impersonate other people. Or people that make serious threats. Otherwise I don't think they should be reported regardless of what the community guidlines say. Some of what they say in the guidelines are stupid and messed up anyway. And some people like to rat other people out just 'cause they broke a very silly rule or no rule at all. Most of us break only very silly rules anyway. And a lot of people on here use cuss words, so do I. But I wouldn't use a whole bunch of them in a post. So why can't we get rid of the report abuse all together? It's so ridiculous. Some of the reasons of reportedness is so screwed up. And for some of the guidelines are so screwed up that I don't care about them 'cause they are silly and stupid.

well i agree most people don't need to be reported because they are saying harmless or stupid things. i just ignore them. but other people are hateful and hurtful and i think they need to be reported and punished. i think a lot of people do it for fun and maybe if they're booted enough times they'll find something more constructive to do.

I think it's a lose/lose situation. If you keep the "report abuse" option, some people use it for stupid little things. If you get rid of it, then Yahoo can't suspend all the sickos and perverts on this site. Which is the greater of two evils?

Personally, I think it'd be a mistake to get rid of the "report abuse" option. I've seen more than a few disgusting questions and I've seen tweens asking for sex. These are the kind of questions that need to be reported.

If people absolutely have to swear, Yahoo could change the guidelines to allow for swearing (using stars). Or if Yahoo is that concerned, they can make a section for swearing.

I agree with the suggestion of an over 21 site - as there may be valid adult content questions. I am afraid it might degenerate in to a hook up site but at least we would have choices to which area we go to. Homework, teen and or younger children's sites might be a nice option as well.
I think if someone is spamming or being really pornographic such as cruising for a hook up they all need to go somewhere else so the report option is a nice option for the stupidity or really graphic. Ignoring is always our choice too.

I absolutely think it should be removed. I have mailed Yahoo many times with the suggestion that they open another Answers site for adults age 21 and up with no report option so people can freely express themselves. Children and idiots are ruining this site.

no. If you are an adult you have to set the example for all those young people out there. If you can not handle the report button, maybe it is time to take a break from it

NO!!!!!!! "Report Abuse" is a necessary evil. I work very hard on allot of my answers. I resent it when somebody leaves some crap answer like "I don't know" or "What?" or "I am just answering for the points". People like that should be, at temporarily, banned from YA.

No, Report abuse is a good idea, especially in theory. it just needs more fine tuning and clear cut guidelines as to what is abuse and what isn't.

I do and i don't. I do because some people i know do these ridiculous reports. and i don't because some kind of abuse really could be happening to someone but they would have no way to say that it is happening.

Defnitely not. Without it, we would not be able to combat the threats, adult content/language, and and personal insults that occasionally make their way into this site.

it is a good thing to be able to report abuse, when it's appropriate. It shouldn't be removed.
