I have a HP Pavilion lap top. Every time I open a window and it appears on the right side of my monitor screen I cannot close it or 1/4 of it still appears on that side of my monitor. How do I get these partial widows to "go away" for ever? I am 35 with a 7 year old son who knows more about computers than I do....please do not make me ask him for help :)

Press the F5 key one time and see if it clears up.
The F5 key is the screen refresh key.
It clears out all ghost images on the desktop.
Ghost images on the desktop are normal for windows.

I am going to assume you are running Win XP: Right-click on the task bar and then left click on Tile Windows Horizontally. This will make each open window appear in a way that you can close them using the X in their top right corner.

FYI, Many windows 'remember' their position from one use to the next, so if a window was inadvertantly shoved off to a side of the screen, the next time it appears in the same place.

That's an unusual problem. Sounds like the computer is kinda slow or you might have a virus. I would call geek squad. Even your 7 year old can't fix it!
