Blood in your semen can be caused by a number of things: infection, injury, disease of the prostate or urethra. You need to see a doctor, yesterday. It may be something simple that resting and a little icepack would take care of, or it might be something serious. The sooner you see a doctor, the quicker you can get answers and treatment and stop worrying.

Blood in semen (ejaculate) is also called hematospermia.

What are the causes of blood in semen?

Blood in semen can be caused by many conditions affecting the tubes that distribute semen from the testicles (seminal vesicles) or the prostate gland. The most common cause of blood in semen is inflammation of the seminal vesicles or prostate gland. Blood in the semen can temporarily be caused by injury to the prostate gland, such as from prostate biopsy.

You need to go to the doctor ASAP, this could be something minor or something serious----but whatever you do, don't take the risk by not getting it treated.

You probably have an infection and need some anti-biotics, but get it checked by your doctor.
