When you hear a song, what do you listen for to determine whether or not it's for you? Do you look for a funky or catchy beat? Great lyrics? Vocals? The "mood" it sets? Popularity? Heck, even the hotness of the lead singer? Tell what you listen for and why.
Me, I look for a few things...
1: Lyrics that are well-written and meaningful.
2: Great vocals.
3: Whether or not it "speaks" to me. Kind of hard to explain, but certain songs seem to connect you to the music.

It depends on what I'm feeling at the time. The lyrics are important, but it has to have a catchy melody too. I like most any kind of music, but again it depends on my mood.

i think i look for music depending on what mood i am in at the time suppose when i feel tired and peaceful id like the meditation music, when im happy suppose some up beat , angry, a bit of a song that could be anti social, sad a soppy love song..

For me, It's when i here this catchy beat , the lyrics doesn't matter just the sound of it, That for me is good music.

I look for something that is easy to sing along with, and has a nice beat to it. I also end up liking a song usually for one line that hits home within the song.

I look for songs that evoke some kind of emotion in me whether it is happiness or sorrow or silliness etc. A song has to make me feel something for me to really like it
