Open Network Places from Control Panel. In it select your connection and right clik on it. Go to Properties. Double click on TCP/IP. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically".

Right Click on the connection in Network Places and select Repair.

Assuming you're on a Windows OS...
Go to a command prompt and type: ipconfig /release

To get a new IP type: ipconfig /renew

Need more help? Type: ipconfig /?

from the command prompt type (at the root.)
c:/ ipconfig/release

I would restart after doing this.

I don't know what OS you are using but this is a fairly common command.
