Peace Corps!
What a noble cause that was at that time!
Wasn't it right after that famous, "Ask not what your country can do for you......" etc? Or was that the inspiration for Peace corps? I forget....

In 1961, John F. Kennedy initiated the Peace Corps for young people to go and help lesser developed nations. JFK JR actually went and did that when he was old enough!
