We here in South Florida were dying last year durring the hurricane season, when the power went out. Is there any way to cool off a room without any power running? I mean, besides a generator? No smart remarks, please!

south florida? did you still have cold running water? get in that shower son and cool down..use the coldest setting that you can stand...stay in there for a while...when you come out that room won't feel so bad. but i look forward to some other tricks as i will be moving there soon.

Dang, I had a classic smart remark, but I'll follow your instructions and keep it to myself. The only way to cool a room without electricity is to hang a wet blanket or sheet. The evaporation will cool a room unless the humidity is very high. Florida would probably be too high of humidity for that to work. And, I'm out of ideas.
