A piranha is a South American Characin. I really doubt that you have one because in most states it is against the law to sell them. Too many people let them loose in lakes, and they can live in the southern states. More fish that are also in the characin family is the silver dollar and the pacu. I have never seen a barracuda for sale. They live in the oceans and are predators. They have a stream line body, while the characin family are almost as tall as they are long.

well buying a fish and having no idea how to care of them or know even what they are isn';t good fishkeeping.

red belly pirhanas are the most common pirhana species.
Black pirhanasa RHOM, chances u will not get a 500 dollar fish..
REd belly pacus, most likely wont eat fish,
silver dollars wont eat fish

barracudas are salt water fishes,
Fresh water ones are not really barracudas. more like rocket gars. The most common, being the afircan fin eatting charchin.

Baracuda are saltwater fish, pirahna are fresh water. Which do you have? Fresh? or Salt?

Pirahna are members of the tetra family. Most tetras do not eat other fish, pirahna do...

You really need to describe them, then maybe someone could help you.
