How do you set the resolution to 1440 x 900? I bought an 19 inch wide screen LCD. And I can't seem to be able to set the resolution..The best right now I can get is 1024 x 768 without leaving black space top and bottom..The software that came with it did nothing to help me set the resolution. What do I do??

My max resolution is 1280 x 720. But when I set it to that resolution. The screen shows blackness on the top and bottoms.

1440x900 is a unique resolution, but its starting to be shown on the mainstream computer, mostly laptops. What I would do is download the windows drivers for the monitor, and for your videocard if you have not so in the past year. Other than that, check to see if you need to get a replacement videocard, if yours is outdated, or better yet, check to see if you are running throught the DVI connection of the montior. A analog vga connection cannot determine what the resolution of the monitor is, but could only output the information on it.

Basically, get a DVI cable and the computer would do it automatically for you. Hope it works.

It is dependent on 2 factors namely your monitor and your video card. Now if both of them support it then you have no issue. From you description, it seems to support it but you are merely getting blank spaces around the edges. In that instance, all you need to do is recalibre the monitor i.e. resize the geometry both vertically and horizontally. You should have several buttons on your monitor to recalibre it.

You need to UPDATE your video card driver[s] IMMEDIATELY.
Once you've done that should be able to acheive the full 1440x900 resolution
