First and foremost, we try to always respect each other, which means respecting that we are each a different person. We also try to accept each other as we are, not what we want the other to be. So when we disagree on things, we talk it out and try to come to a comprimise that works for both of us. Sometimes that takes a while. Sometimes, depending on what it is, it means someone has to give in. But when that person gives in, it usually means that the next time, the other person gets their way. So that everythig's "fair", you know? We tend to argue mostly about time spent together. But my husband I are complete polar opposites, though. He's very logical, very "left-brained", and I'm very emotional, very ruled by my emotions. So sometimes we argue simply because he can't see why I'm upset about something (like that he hasn't spent any quality time with me all week because he's "busy" but he's got HOURS to spend underneath his car...oh that's a big argument). But that's also a good thing, because my emotions can get the best of me and I overreact sometimes, get a bit too excited, and he pulls me back and calms me down.

I don't really argue with my spouse. She won't get into a argument with me. Sometimes I wish she would. Two or three times that I recall in 17 years of marriage, she did get ticked off and we actually argued. Each time I could see her way and either compromised with her or acquiesced to her point of view. I don't think its that we don't have issues, but we both have gotten complacent and just don't want to rock the boat by arguing. Also, I think she had the spirit of arguing taken out of her by a mean first husband. Since I know she won't argue, I do try to consider her in most decisions I make that would effect her. I guess she's comfortable knowing this is so.

Money seems to be the biggest problem, he is a spender and I am not. Sometimes we agree to disagree.
