I have been told that marigolds are a good repellent against mosquitoes as they don`t like the marigold smell also people plant marigolds for a flea repellent. Do you have alot of water in your plants around your front porch if you do that will attract mosquitoes. Any staglant water will attract mosquitoes.

This is just a bad year for mosquitoes.

The Asian Tiger mosquito is infiltrating a lot of areas and they are particularly aggressive.

I can't remember being nailed by a mosquito in my yard in the past several years, but I've been hit a half dozen times in the last week or two. They leave big red/pink welts that last 2-3 days.

As the other poster said, do a neighborhood hunt for standing pools of water ... even what seem to be too tiny to worry about. That's where the eggs develop.

Is there a water source some place near your front porch in your yard or neighbor's -- Even a little bit of standing water where mosquitos could be multiplying? If so, it needs to be emptied.

Marigolds are supposed to be one of the plants which naturally repels certain garden pests (never heard of it linked in any way with mosquitos)

Marigolds do not effect mosquitos but they do make other bugs go away.
