2001 grand am ran out of gas. I put gas in it, it will crank but as soon as I let go of the key it shuts down. I feel like it is a reset button or something any one know?

there is an inertia valve that you can try and reset but probably wont help. If you tryed to crank it any after you ran out then you probably burnt up your fuel pump. there is a fuse under the hood check it and make sure it didnt blow.

Running it out of gas probably took out the fuel pump in the tank.
The pump needs the fuel to cool it. Not to mention it sucking up
all the debris in the bottom of the tank.

chances are something's not right with fuel pressure...also, since you ran it all the way out of fuel, it's probably sucked up some junk out of the bottom of the fuel tank. You may need to get your fuel lines cleaned.

WOW! This just happened to me last night! My problem was I was on a hill. Once I was able to manuver (with the help of two fellows) the steering column to get the vehicle in position to get off that hill and point in the direction of the street - she started right up and continued to run....
