Ideal Yes, practical No, at least in the foreseeable future. How do you get over a billion Chinese to learn say English or nearly a billion in South America to give up Spanish or Portuguese. Then there are over a billion in India who currently speak hundreds of languages most of which are unknown outside India. Similar problems exist throughout Africa. Most likely is that English will remain the language of choice for the educated classes and the business classes. As 3rd world countries improve they will make english compulsory in schools and english will be used in the business world, the country will remain dual language until eventually the local language falls out of use. You can see this happening among the native indians of North America and to a lesser extent to the Aborigine tribes of Australia. I predict that eventually the world will speak a version of english but it will take a very long time. Now getting the French, Germans, Italians and the like to give up their native languages is just another hurdle to be overcome. For sure there will be opposition Ian M

It would definitely be better but then it would probably hide distinct characters of a country also some persons in high paying jobs such as interpreters wouldn't be in a jod cuz every one speaks the same language, probably there wouldn't be Mexico, Puerto Rico etc., for example if everyone spoke english ppl wouldn't visit Cuba all the time to learn Spanish, Mexico wouldn't have spanish foods, France wouldn't be so romantic as they wouldn't speak french, so i guess having different languages has its ad and disadvantages.

It would be nice in an idealistic world but, that is never going to happen. It would be nice, however, if some inventor made a device where we do not need to learn a language per say, but, when a Korean or Japanese business or someone of European descent asks you a questions, the device automatically translate it for you. Then, you can say, in English (or whatever) the answer and the device translate it back to them in their language.
In a perfect world, that would be nice. Then, we can speak our language without really wanting to or having the need to learn someone else language.

According to the Bible, it was the multitude of languages that brought down the Tower of Babel because the different tradesmen could no longer communicate with each other.

Obviously, the Politically Correct who don't want aliens and immigrants to learn the official language of the U.S. don't know their Bible... or their history, either. A common language is necessary for a country to be strong and united... something the U.S. is quickly NOT becoming.

I think not. The bloodiest war ever fought in the Western Hemisphere was the American Civil War - fought by men (and a few women) who for the most part did indeed speak the same language.
At Antietam, twenty-three thousand men fell in one day - and they spoke English. At Cold Harbor, six thousand fell in fifteen minutes - and they spoke English.
Yes, there were men who spoke little English who served in the Union forces - but their officers certainly spoke English.

You might help your argument if you fix the spelling and grammar mistakes and re-post your question. "everone"? "sating"? "Lattin"? "it dont matter...."? What language did you have in mind?

and I supposed you'd want everyone to look the same too?(doesn't matter what what race as long as we all look the same).

I don't think so. The fact that people are different (language included) is what make them more wonderful.

I love languages, how some are more sexy (or sound sexier) than others.

I totally agree with you except I think it should be English since that's also a second language in other countries.

Only if you want a world full of lazy people who can't be bothered to use their brains to learn something new, fewer available jobs (no interpreters/translators), no diversity and utter boredom. If we did have the same language, would you be bothered to learn how to spell it, type it, punctuate it, capitalise it and use the correct grammar?!
