Are doctors required to tell a teen's parents when they have an abortion? Do the parents have to consent?

I'm not a teen, I'm not pregnant and I would never have an abortion. I just wanted to know if this is true.

I'm pretty sure that you have to be of a certain age. And depending on state you may have to have parental consent because it is a surgery. I'd call your local Planned Parenthood and ask about your local state laws.

I don't think they have to tell. But I could be wrong. Try doing a Google search for it. Search for abortion laws. And as for not getting an aborition, GOOD FOR YOU! It makes me happy when I hear people say this!

No, they have a strict patient confidentiality... BUT you DO need someone over the age of 18 with you when you go.
