The word you're looking for is utopianism - Utopia was an imaginary world invented by the Tudor statesmen and saint, Sir Thomas More. It represents the ideal country, and perhaps for that reason, he chose the name Utopia from the greek for both "good place" and "no place."

Utopianism is the search for a Utopia and there are as many possible utopias as there are people looking - since everybody has their own view of what consitutes perfection.

It's the idea that a world of perfect harmony among all humans everywhere is possible. It's a Left-Wing pipe dream that brought about socialism and communism. Christians don't like utopianism becuase it's an attempt to create a heaven on Earth, which is blasphemy, and was the main objection to the original idea of communism.

It's the silly, unrealistic notion that a perfect society can be constructed. Of course such a system is impossible because eventually somebody is going to have their toes stepped on, either figuratively through speech or literally by being run over by someone who ignores road sign in their search for perfection behind the wheel.

Utopia is the name of the perfect city in the story "lost Horizons". It's about a plane crash in the Andes Mt. range, and the survivors are taken to a perfect place, where there is no crime/punishment. They find that life is too perfect, and try to escape...read it! It's an interesting story.
