Tell him you like him, make the first move, you'll be greatful you did!
why?
guys get hotter as they get older, the geeky boy in junior high school becomes the hot senior in high school all the girls are drooling all over. And he'll know you're with him for him, and not his looks.
keep in mind, the beauty of the soul lasts longer than the beauty of the eye.
everyone needs someont they can rely on, and you're lucky to have found one.

Your friends can't feel what you feel. Don't live a life of regret. I was engaged to a girl for a while. Her family talked her out of being with me and she dumped me because I was a rent-a-cop (aka security officer). I was a full time student and had dreams. She listened to her family. I've since earned three two Master's, and am working on my third Ph.D., happily married with a wonderful healthy, happy family in a really nice home, debt free.
She married a bum who had children that she had to raise. He doesn't help her at all.
Love the one you know loves you back. He may be a geek today, but ten years from now he may be a "Gates" (AKA Bill Gates).

Follow your heart, and if the other people are your true friends they will have your back no matter what. It is not what is on the outside of a person that makes them, it is what is on the inside that matters the most. What makes your heart smile, that is the question.

You've already chosen the boy , so why burden us with the question? Next time your friends say something negative about him, telll them exactly what you wrote in this question.
Incidentally, don't knock geekdom. There are some pretty nice guys in geekville.

Your friends now probably won't be your friends in a few years. People change. Don't pass up an opportunity for something good because of what people think, it's not what you think.

Don't worry about your friends opinion. So what if he's a geek. How he treats you is what matters. He sounds like a doll.

Don't worry about what your friends think - that's a good sign you are maturing. A good friend can last a long time.

If you're happy with this guy, and you know he's good for you, and your friends think he's a geek, then they're not your real friends.

you should go with your own feelings, not what your friends say. If he is a nice person and treats you with respect, thats all that matters. But i hope you are not just using him for when no one else is available....cause that would not be nice

I would say go for it despite your friends, but it's very unlikely that you're going to last that long, just based upon your age.
