Any IQ number you've heard for a president is at best a guess, at worst a deliberate lie.
Many of you appear to have no clue what IQ numbers mean.

Lewis Terman (1916) developed the original notion of IQ and proposed this scale for classifying IQ scores:

*

Over 140 - Genius or near genius
*

120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
*

110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
*

90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence
*

80 - 89 - Dullness
*

70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency
*

Under 70 - Definite feeble-mindedness

Normal Distribution & IQ Scores

The properties of the normal distribution apply to IQ scores:

*

50% of IQ scores fall between 90 and 110
*

70% of IQ scores fall between 85 and 115
*

95% of IQ scores fall between 70 and 130
*

99.5% of IQ scores fall between 60 and 140

Having an IQ of 100.5 isn't that great. I'm sure it's around the 90s. Whatever it is it's definately too low for somebody who's suppose to be leading a nation.

I know he had better grades and a higher IQ than Gore as was reported about 11/2 years ago. Story only ran one time though. It is as though the press does not want us to know that.

Trapped inside Bush his subconscious is trying to warn us, and just once in a while it does, Bush delivered these great words at the signing ceremony for a $417 billion defence-spending bill. -Aug. 5, 2004

“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we, … they never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.” –

I think he is a lot clever than folks think

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction."
-- Albert Einstein

Bush's SAT score was 1206 (566 Verbal, 640 Math). See the upper-left
corner of his Yale transcript:
http://www.iuptown.com/YaleProtest/bushs_yale_transcript.htm

This web page offers a theoretical conversion of pre-1974 SAT scores to IQ:
http://members.shaw.ca/delajara/Pre1974SAT.html

Based on that conversion chart, Bush's IQ would be about 129.

Another web page, "SQ, IQ, and self-skills in recent US Presidents"
mentions that Charles Murray, author of a book on IQ called "The Bell
Curve," compares a that SAT score to an IQ of about 125.

"On his SAT's, President GW Bush scored 566 verbal and 640 math, for a
total of 1206 (from http://members.shaw.ca/delajara/SATIQ.html ). The
Bell Curve author Murray estimates a 1206 SAT equates to about 125 IQ.

Whether or not you agree with his politics, he is a very successful politician, so I would have to say his IQ is probably reasonably high. Not Einstein level or anything, but be fair, he must have something going for him. And I wouldn't dare say anything derogatory about your IQ, you could be Stephen Hawking for all I know!

I think the stories of his low IQ were deliberately planted. What power you wield in such a position when everybody believes you to be much less intelligent than you actually are.

High enough to be the most powerful man in the world, when you and your family are not.

There have been analyses done, and those estimate it has to be 120 to 130, which puts him in the top 1/3

Alas, our human society does not use i.q. for selecting people in power. We learned in Mensa that most people of Mensa level (top 2%) in the world overall, are working as manual laborers or housewives.

The quickest way in the world to be rejected for any job or competitive school such as med school is to mention your high i.q.

The 'study' that placed him below 100 has been shown to be a hoax. He hasn't published his score, but based on his SAT scores and his college degree, most estimate it in the 170 range. Anything above 130 would be rated superior.
