What's the best position to put a tampon in? I'm a virgin and just started using them...whenever I put one in I could always feel it, and the directions say I shouldn't, any ideas?

As far a using tampons and your virginity: it really doesn't matter if you're a virgin or not. You can still use tampons and they don't hurt (unless you put them in wrong.)

Tampons can seem scary and weird. With a little practice, you'll be so glad they were invented!

Okay, this is a little "descriptive", but it's good to be informed on things like this, especially the first time.

It's best to try tampons when your period is it's heaviest. Pick a tampon that you think you'll like (I always use Tampax, not pearl) and is the right absorbtive strength. You might consider trying a lighter strength tampon at first.

You can put in a tampon either while you're sitting on the toilet or standing next to the toilet with one leg up on the seat. (I prefer sitting and spreading my legs a part so I have room to work down there.)

First thing is to relax!! If you tighten your muscles, it will make it really hard to put the tampon in properly. Relax your muscles by taking a deep breath.

Hold the tampon in a way that is comfortable to you. The box usually recommends resting the tampon on your middle finger, with the thumb supporting it, and your pointer finger on the end.

Relax your muscles, and slide it inside, gently. It may feel weird, but relax. Most girls don't insert the tampons far enough, which can cause discomfort. Be sure to put it in deep enough. Don't worry, the tampon can NOT get lost inside of you and the string is there to help you take it out.

Make sure you remove the applicator/cardboard cover (if there is one.) Throw it away.

Breath, cause you're done! Good job.

You can always try putting in a tampon again; it sometimes takes a few times to get it right.

I find that if I don't put the tampon far enough in, it is very uncomfortable. Just get it far enough inside, and you won't feel a thing. (Tampons are really the best invention since sliced bread!!)

Be sure to replace your tampon ever 4-6 hours, so you don't get Toxic Shock Syndrome, a horrible bacteria that can be deadly. (Sorry to scare you; just don't leave the tampon in over 6 hours, k?)

To remove the tampon, use the string to gently pull the tampon out. If it is tight and hurts, you either need to relax your muscles or try a lighter tampon.

Dispose of the dirty tampon as directed.

Sometimes it is possible to feel tampons. It doesn't necessarily mean that it is in wrong. If your periods are not too heavy, try using a slender or teen brand, and follow the instructions that come in the box. Feeling the tampon there is not a problem, but any discomfort is. If you are too dry when you try to put it in, it can sometimes stick to the skin and be uncomfortable. To avoid this, only use tampons on heavier flow days, and stick to pads for light days.
Hope this helps.

you know the reason could be that you maybe using the wrong size for you... see I'm not a virgin and i have try ed all sizes and the only on that i dint feel is the regular.. they tell you to go be how heavy the flow is and that is not all ways true ......see some people have a heavier flow then others and think big is bettter... but not always... use the tampon the most fits you.......

every woman's body is different...you need to test it out by trial and error. I've had days when that darn tampon was hurting me and yes, you definitely can feel it if it's not in right. It's best to make sure you're moist or lubricated before you put a tampon in. Putting it in "dry" will be uncomfortable. Once you know your body better...you'll be a pro at putting it in. Hope it helped.

My first question would be what size are you using. I would suggest start with junior or lite tampons. If you still find them uncomfortable you may simply need to try various brands. They all differ a little. Finally, the instructions will illustrate several positions, try them all until you find the one that works best for you.

once it's all the way in, you shouldn't be able to feel it, hon. If you can, then it's not in deep enough. I sit down to put mine in; standing up just doesn't work for me. And sometimes, it doesn't go all the way in, especially on the lighter days, when I'm a bit on the dry side, my muscles tend to clamp down then and I have to pull it out, throw it out and try another one. If you're dry, (like on lighter days) you can try a bit of KY jelly to help ease it in a bit. But aim it at an angle towards the small of your back. Like someone else, it's mostly trial and error; you just get used to what your body likes best. Also, you want to make sure you're pushing it at least a finger length inside yourself. I usually push it in until the applicator disappears just inside my lips (not so far that I lose the applicator, though).

Stand facing the toilet. Put one foot on the toilet seat so your legs are kinda spread apart. When you insert the tampon, angle it toward your back and when it stops, try and wiggle it just a little bit to see if it can go any further, mine usually stops and I have to adjust my angle at that point to get it in the rest of the way.

different positions work better for different people I personally do the half standing half sitting thing. if you can still feel it maybe you aren't putting them in as far as you should be and try using a lubricant of some kind that'll help make it go in more easier. good luck

Stay Calm!! Sit upright and relax your muscels. Gently place it and face it backwords a little bit so it's facing towards your lower back. It painless. Just trial and error it. No one gets everything right on the first try. Good Luck!

Definitely use Slim Fit tampons, and put one foot up on the bath tub or toilet
